Trujillo, Onofre Jr

Onofre Trujillo Jr. was born to Dorothy Loretto Trujillo (Jemez/Laguna) and Onofre Trujillo Sr. (Cochiti) in 1969. Dorothy’s mother was from Laguna Pueblo and her father from Jemez Pueblo. She grew up at Jemez and learned how to make Jemez-style pottery.

Dorothy moved to Cochiti after she married Onofre Trujillo Sr. and she obtained permission from the Cochiti elders to make Cochiti-style pottery. Like his siblings, Frances Pino, Judith Suina and Cecilia Valencia Trujillo, Onofre Jr. learned how to make storyteller figures from his mother by watching and working with her as he was growing up.
