Sandia, Rachel
Descended from many generations of Acoma and Jemez potters, Rachel Sandia is a member of the Jemez Pueblo Eagle clan. Her parents were Wilbert and Geraldine Sandia, her grandparents Cecilia and Arthur Loretto. Like her sisters, Natalie and Debbie, she learned to make pottery through watching and working with her mother.
Rachel primarily makes polychrome and black-on-red bowls, jars and vases. Her favorite designs include clouds, feathers and daisies. She started participating in the Santa Fe Indian Market in 1993 and returned for many years.
