Antonio, Randy
Randy Antonio was born to Mildred Antonio of Acoma Pueblo in the 1960s. As Mildred was a well-known potter and always needed raw materials to work with, Randy and his father were often out searching for and bringing back clay. Then they’d process it and prepare it for Mildred. Randy often watched her making and painting pots as he was growing up. However, he didn’t really put his hands in clay to make something himself until after he’d married Frederica Vallo. Then Frederica and his mother taught him to be an excellent potter. He’s been an active potter since the 1990s and mostly makes polychrome jars and bowls.
Randy is also an excellent stone-tool maker, a “flintknapper.” He and Frederica live in the village of San Fidel at Acoma Pueblo.
