Rito Talavera is the husband of Mata Ortiz potter Lydia Quezada. He learned how to make pottery from Lydia and from her brother, Juan Quezada Sr. His pieces are very similar to Juan’s except he often adds appliqués in the shape of a lizard or a serpent above the shoulder and around the rim.
