Stevens, Rose

Rosita “Rose” Stevens was born into the Acoma Pueblo Bear Clan around 1940. Her mother was Lolita Garcia. She married James Stevens and they had three children: Sharon Stevens, Manuel Stevens and Virginia Garcia. Rose learned how to make pottery as she was growing up. In turn, she and Lolita taught all of Rose’ children how to make pottery, too.

Rose became active in the marketplace in the early 1960s, mostly making traditional polychrome jars and bowls.
