Torivio, Rose

Rose Torivio was born into the Acoma Pueblo Roadrunner Clan in May 1935. Her mother was Eva Histia, her grandmother Helice Vallo. Among her siblings were Hilda Antonio and Ida Ortiz. She was a niece of Lucy Lewis and Elizabeth Waconda.

Rose grew up in a pottery making household and learned the basics from her mother and grandmother. She primarily made traditional jars, bowls and wedding vases. Later on she started making storyteller figures. She earned a Second Place award at the Santa Fe Indian Market in 1976 for one of her storytellers.
