Shroulote, Ruby
Ruby Shroulote was a potter from Acoma Pueblo. She was active in the marketplace from the 1950s to the 1990s. She was married to John Shroulote and they had at least two children who learned how to make pottery in the ages-old way: through watching and working with Ruby. They were Manuel Shroulote and Ophelia Leon.
Ruby mostly made jars, bowls and ollas. She liked to decorate them with 4-panel geometric designs, sometimes polychrome, sometimes just black-on-white. Her designs often included 4-panel geometric designs with lots of fine line design and sometimes with a parrot-on-a-branch or deer-with-heart-line design in a medallion.
