Roller, Ryan
Ryan Roller is the great-grandson of Santa Clara Pueblo potter Margaret Tafoya. He says he learned how to make pottery from his father, Jeff Roller, and his grandmother, Toni Roller. He first put his hands in clay when he was about nine years old and he’s been playing with it ever since.
Ryan mostly makes large vessels, jewelry boxes, ornaments, pendants and figurines. Highly polished, deep carved and jet black or deep red are Ryan’s trademarks. He’s also known for working with various shades of browns and combinations of black and red.
