Chino, Santana
Santana Chino Sanchez (b. ca. 1900-1985) was a traditional potter from Acoma Pueblo. Her parents were Santiago and Leuppe Tsieyounow. She was a sister of Marie Z. Chino. She learned how to make pottery as she was growing up. By 1920, she was a remarried widow with ten children (Helen Patricio was one of them).
Santana made black-on-white and polychrome jars, bowls and seed pots, decorating them mostly with birds, flowers and ancient Anasazi and Mimbres geometric designs.
