Silveira, Saul

From the village of Mata Ortiz in northern Mexico, Saul Silveira is the younger brother of Lila Silveira. Saul learned how to make pottery from their parents, José Silveira and Socorro Sandoval, but he wasn’t really interested until he was in his early twenties. Then about 2003 he started studying with his sister Lila. Lila had learned directly from Juan Quezada Sr. and the designs he learned from her have had a large influence on his work since.

Saul tends to sign his pieces using “Saul Silbeira” as his name. He is the only member of the family who does that.
