Tafoya, Starr

Pamela Starr Tafoya was born into Santa Clara Pueblo in 1951. She was the daughter of Jane Baca, granddaughter of Marianita Chavarria Velarde. Legoria Velarde and Pablita Velarde were aunts. Starr grew up learning how to make pottery from her mother and collaborated often with her mother throughout her life. They signed their pots “Jane & Starr.” They specialized in animal and bird figures and geometric pieces. After Jane passed on in 2011, Starr kept working with her sisters, Velma and Kathy.
