Huma, Stella
Poivee Stella Huma was a Hopi-Tewa potter from Tewa Village, at the foot of First Mesa. Born in 1929, she was an active potter from about 1960 until she passed on in 1995. She was a member of the Kachina-Parrot Clan.
Stella mostly made black-and-red-on-yellow jars and black-on-red canteens. Her favorite designs included the parrot, bird elements and rain clouds. She was renowned for her ability to form pots with walls as thin as those of Acoma. She was also a master of Sikyátki-Revival shapes and forms.
