Riley, Stuart Jr

Stuart Riley Jr. was born to a Laguna Pueblo mother (Bertha Riley) and Dineh father (Stuart Riley Sr.) He counts himself a Dineh potter and his designs and styles are very Dineh. It’s not noted where or from who he learned to make pottery but his mother was a niece of Evelyn Cheromiah and was a participant in the Laguna Pueblo Arts and Crafts Project taught by Evelyn in 1973. That’s where she most likely learned how to make pottery. Stuart most likely was introduced to the making of pottery by his mother.
