Romero, Teresita
Teresita Romero was born into Cochiti Pueblo in May 1894. She was actively making pottery from the 1910s to the 1960s. She mostly made large traditional polychrome storage jars, effigy jars, bowls, storytellers and miniatures. She also made distinct sitting figures, posed similarly to the storyteller figures of Helen Cordero.
Teresita was the mother of Salvador Romero. Shortly after Salvador married Nell, he and Nell moved to the San Francisco Bay area for work. There they raised two sons: Diego Romero and Mateo Romero, both of whom later returned to Cochiti Pueblo and became award-winning artists.
