Naha, Terran
A member of the Hopi-Tewa Corn clan, Terran Naha was born to parents Terry and Nona Naha in November, 1984. He grew up surrounded by some of today’s finest Hopi-Tewa potters. He says he learned the most from his mom, Nona, and he’s learned more from working with Garrett Maho.
Terran didn’t really get serious about making pottery until 2001, after his first son was born. Then he dove in and started learning through doing.
He hasn’t participated in many shows yet although his work is shown in places like the Heard Museum in Scottsdale and Andrea Fisher Fine Pottery in Santa Fe.
Terran says his favorite shapes to make are tiles, seed pots and jars. His favorite decorations are animals, birds and insects. He also told us his inspiration comes from doing what he most likes to do: hang out with his family at home. Making pottery allows him to do that.
