Kahe, Valerie

Valerie Kahe is the daughter of Gloria Kahe. Gloria is a Dineh woman who married into Hopi and moved to her husband’s home in Polacca. There Gloria learned how to make pottery from her mother-in-law, Marcella Kahe. Once she was comfortable, she began incorporating symbols and imagery from Dineh culture. Valerie grew up learning how to make that kind of pottery through watching and working with her mother.
