Eckleberry, Victor and Naomi

Victor and Naomi Eckleberry were a husband-and-wife team of potters from Santa Clara Pueblo. Born in 1958, Victor was the son of Mary Louise Eckleberry and grandson of Christina Naranjo. He learned how to make pottery through watching and working with them as he was growing up.

Naomi was born in 1961, in Los Angeles. Her mother was from Santa Clara, her father Anglo. Eventually Naomi returned to Santa Clara where she met and married Victor. Together, they mostly made carved blackware bowls and jars. Their favorite design to carve was the avanyu.
