Gutierrez, Virginia
Born in 1941, Virginia Gutierrez is of Nambe Pueblo and Pojoaque Pueblo heritage, although her pottery is more in the Pojoaque style with its matte paints on matte surfaces.
Virginia was the daughter-in-law of Petra Montoya and sister-in-law of Minnie Vigil, Goldenrod, Thelma Talachy and Lois Gutierrez. Like Lois, she was one of the few Pueblo potters to display Pueblo dancers on her pots.
Virginia became an active potter in the mid 1970s, making mostly polychrome jars and seed pots, and micaceous jars. She also did embroidery.
