Crown

About the Crown

As the name implies, a "crown" is some form of sculptural embellishment around the upper edge of a figure or a pot. With Wyandot and Cherokee pots, those crowns are often substantial with multi-sided shapes and graphic designs of their own. On a Zuni duck pot, the crown may be anything from a simple fez-like hat to a halo of several feathered plumes.
