Wall Plaques

About Wall Plaques

Small nubs with holes in them for lacing a string through to hang a piece of pottery have been added to pottery for centuries. Wall plaques are different in that the back is flat and the hole in it is usually large enough to serve for the hanging purpose by itself. Wall plaques also usually have some form of basket appliqué on them. Most recent ones came from Franklin Tenorio of Santo Domingo but some a bit older came from Louis Naranjo of Cochiti. Others have come from the Hopi mesas.
