Silveira, Octavio

Octavio Silveira Sandoval is one of the sons of Octavio “Tavo” Silveira and Mirna Hernandez of Mata Ortiz. He has an older brother named Jesus Octavio Silveira Sandoval. Both of them were taught how to make pottery by their parents but while Jesus and Tavo often collaborate, Octavio generally works on his own.

Octavio has developed a style of polychrome jar decorated with painted and sgraffito birds or bumblebees or dragonflies or butterflies bordered with bands of geometric designs that seems to be working well for him.
